Trump is a well-known name in real estate and development (one plastered all over New York and Florida) that has finally made its way onto the Chicago scene with the construction of Trump International Hotel & Tower. Even though it's only half-way through completion, the luxury residence and hotel accommodations have already incited the typical buzz following Donald Trump's endeavors. It's the type of hype that keeps a new construction development in the headlines and generates quite a hum among local residents, business owners and city officials.

The Trump Tower has a pretty prominent place in the Chicago cityscape, located right on the river, just outside the Loop in the River North neighborhood. When it is finished, the 92-story building will rise above the skyline, nabbing a bit of the spotlight from the city's long-established architectural treasures. The tower incorporates a multi-tiered design, not unlike the Sears Tower, only with gentle, rounded edges instead of a sharp, boxy frame. In addition, the tinted glass exterior is intended to reflect blue sky, diminishing the structure's massive presence. But let's not forget, this is a Trump enterprise... and we've never known The Donald to shy away from huge or flashy-he's quicker to utter the words, "Go Big, or Go Home!"

Well, Trump certainly "went big" with his first Chicago venture. The 1,362-foot tower will house 486 residential units and 339 hotel guestrooms, plus a restaurant, banquet hall, health spa, indoor pool, fitness center, and landscaped riverfront promenade and patio.

Trump International offers homebuyers the best in luxury lodgings and services, starting with individual condo units and penthouse suites. The list of lavish amenities is consistent throughout the building with superior interior finishes, top-grade appliances, and high-tech security measures. Condos feature exquisite hardwood flooring and solid wood doors, 10-foot ceilings and walk-in closets. The majority of two- and three-bedroom units also boast attractive fireplaces and the view of Lake Michigan and the surrounding city is sure to be breathtaking.

There are over 20 different floor plans dispersed among the building's residential condo floors (which scale from the 29th story up). The units span from 580-square-foot studios to 6,850-square-foot penthouses and many of the larger units have sweeping walls of windows that follow the tower's curving contour.

Because the Trump name is synonymous with luxury, it's not surprising the price tags on real estate in the Trump International are upmarket. Even the studios command anywhere from half a million dollars to $996,000! Some of the one-bedroom condos fall within that same price range-still, it's just as easy to spend a million or more for a one-bedroom place in the Trump Tower. And, if the idea of a four- or five-bedroom penthouse piques your interest, you're looking at values between $5.3 million and $8.3 million.

Of course, with that posh piece of real estate, residents get access to the five-star health club and spa located on the 14th floor of the building, overlooking the Chicago River. Hotel guests and condo-owners can unwind with special spa treatments, massages and facials, or work up a sweat on the state-of-the-art exercise machines and strength training equipment.
