Located next to the research library that it's named after, Newberry Plaza is one of the most desirable residential buildings in Chicago's Gold Coast, both because of the tower's location and because of the beautiful condos within. The building is just a couple of blocks to the west of Chicago's world famous "Magnificent Mile" shopping district, and it's also located amid the city's premiere nightlife district located where North Rush Street and North State Parkway meet at the so-called "Viagra triangle."
Newberry Plaza is a massive 53-floor skyscraper that was constructed in 1974 and is currently one of the largest residential buildings in Chicago. Because the building stands at the foot of East Bellevue Place, residents on the east side of the building have clear views down that street to the Oak Street Beach, which should give an idea of exactly how close the beach is to Newberry Plaza's front door. The building also features its own outdoor pool, sundeck, and exercise room. In addition, there's an on-site manager, a door person, and several storage rooms that building residents are invited to use. Condo sizes range from one- to three-bedroom units, and prices range incrementally. For example, a one-bedroom condo in this building typically costs anywhere between $250,000 and $350,000, while a family-sized three-bedroom condo in Newberry Plaza will generally cost between $1 million and $1.5 million.
