Got any Gripes about your Condo Association?

A new group called the Illinois Condominium Advisory Council has been created by the state to recognize and tackle the major issues associated with condo residence. The council will take the summer to travel around Illinois and hold open hearings where condo owners can state their concerns and ideas for improvements. After the tour, the council plans to create a report with their findings that will be submitted to lawmakers at the end of the year.

Council members will use the feedback they collect to make recommendations on legislative modifications with the intent to overcome general challenges related to the fundamentals of condo life. Some hot topics that are sure to be brought to the council's attention include clearer laws on reserve requirements and how to make developers more accountable for construction defects.
