Chicago Condos In The Loop

The Loop is the center of Chicago’s financial, cultural, retail and transportation infrastructure. It is the epitome of Windy City living and offers a great number of condos for the urban dweller. The residential high-rise is the traditional form of housing in the Loop. Many of these buildings are full-service abodes that have doormen, dry cleaners, convenience stores, business centers, bike rooms, valet parking, exercise facilities and other handy on-site perks that cater to the extensive community within its walls.

The inventory of condos for sale in the Loop is vast and diverse. You can get a bank-owned studio for as little as $80,000 or spend over $4.5 million on a luxury penthouse. The condo market in the Loop has something for every budget, but the average sold price for attached properties during the last six months was around $560,000. The majority of units have one or two bedrooms with an average list price of approximately $386,000, according to reports from Chicago’s Multiple Listing Service.

235 Van Buren

This newly finished Chicago condo incorporates technology-advanced safety systems, superior sound insulation, high-speed passenger elevators, and energy-efficient thermal-pane windows. Its unique geometric design is modern yet reminiscent of architecture from the 1960s and ‘70s. At one time, Outer Drive East was considered the largest apartment building in the world. It has since been converted to condos and offers residents an amazing lakefront location in downtown Chicago. It is called Outer Drive East because it was constructed before Lake Shore Drive was rerouted in the 1980s (to even-out the sharp S curve) and was situated on the east side of Outer Drive. The condo’s address is 400 E. Randolph Street. It is 40 stories tall and has over 900 units.

One of the most notable amenities at Outer Drive East is the glass-enclosed swimming pool. Residents can take a dip anytime of year, no matter what the weather. A brand new state-of-the-art health club was recently added and a dry cleaners, restaurant, and grocery store are also on site. As is common in the majority of condo buildings in the Loop, this residential high-rise has a doorperson and around the clock security. Park Millennium

Completed in 2002, the Park Millennium is a fairly new addition to the Loop’s condo market. The soaring tower has 480 units and a ton of great amenities that make it a prime Chicago property. Park Millennium is located at 222 N. Columbus Drive, a block south of the river. Its condos have open floor plans with floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the downtown skyline. Standard units are equipped with efficiency kitchens (some with stainless steel appliances) and sunny spaces with tons of natural light. Of course, the penthouse condos are deluxe and sprawling… three bedrooms, 1850 square feet, custom details and panoramic views.

Residents of Park Millennium have access to a premium health club that is open 24 hours a day. The gym is outfitted with exercise machines, a 25-meter lap pool, and Jacuzzi. There are separate men’s and women’s locker rooms, each with their own sauna. A large sundeck is located outside the pool area. The patio is edged with trees and has a couple barbeque grills. There is a private party room within the building that allows residents to entertain friends. It has a full kitchen, dining room and big screen TV. Also on the grounds are a business center, library and grocer’s market with a deli.

Chicago’s downtown Pedway connects Park Millennium with the rest of the Loop through a series of underground footpaths. It’s a much appreciated shortcut, especially when the cold winter wind comes in off the lake. In warm weather months, the Park Millennium is an easy walk from a number of Chicago’s most popular landmarks, cultural institutions and public parks.
